Marlys was born on June 3, 1931 to Edward and Helen (Bantle) Bearman in Enderlin, North Dakota.
In June of 1949, Marlys met the love of her life, Raymond Moltzan, of Frazee, while he was at work in Enderlin painting the water tower. On December 29, 1949 the two were married and celebrated 54 years of wedded bliss. Together Ray and Marlys experienced tremendous joy in raising five children, as well as overcoming the heartbreak of losing twins at birth. They made their home in Frazee, MN.
Marlys spent her younger years employed at the Turkey Plant and Fingerhut. When family came along, she and her husband (Ray) began owning businesses. Including a bait shop, trapping fox and later raising fox. In 1972 they bought Ray and Marlys’ Rec. Marlys always said “that was the best years of my life”. She relaxed by making quilts and afghans, also for 50+ years she played Penny Poker weekly with the same ladies. Sundays were spent with her family going to church followed by preparing a big dinner.
Marlys will be remembered most for her self-proclaimed stubbornness, joyful heart, and love for hugs.
