Raymond W. Meyhoff, age 85, of Frazee, MN, passed away Tuesday, November 14, 2017, at Sanford Health in Fargo. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, November 18, 2017, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Frazee. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m., Friday, November 17, 2017, at Furey Funeral Home in Frazee with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
Raymond William Meyhoff was born at Center, North Dakota, to William and Viola (Weisgerber) Meyhoff on April 20, 1932. Ray and his family moved to Frazee, MN, in 1946. He attended school in Frazee. In 1953, Ray was drafted into the United States Army where he served during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in 1955.
On June 29, 1955, Ray married LaVana Feldt. Ray had many interesting jobs. He drove truck for the Frazee Creamery, then became a butter maker. He was the manager of the Blackduck Creamery, then manager at Braham Co-op Creamery, later manager at Creameries Blanding in Little Falls. He then worked as manager of the Frazee Liquor Store for a number of years before Ray and LaVana went to manage the Budget Motel in Jamestown, ND, then the Super 8 Motel in Thief River Falls. In 1997, the couple retired to their hometown, Frazee. Ray worked part time at Central Market in Detroit Lakes and at Furey Funeral Home in Frazee for several years.
Ray was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Frazee, confirmed at Fort Knox, KY.
Ray is survived by his wife, LaVana of Frazee; sister-in-law, Peggy Meyhoff-Maki and Bruce Maki of Frazee; brother-in-law, Earl Erickson of Wausau, WI; many nieces and nephews; and the Shirley Brasel family.
Preceding Ray in death were his parents; sister, Janice Erickson; brothers: Norman and Billy (Sara) Meyhoff; and Cousin-in-law, Gerald Brasel.
Ray loved to work on his tractors and had done many fun things in his life. He was always friendly and smiling. He will be dearly missed.
