Amber Kay (Schmidt) Kowalzek, age 33, of Frazee, MN, passed away Tuesday, February 21, 2012, at her home under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m., Monday, February 27, 2012, at the United Methodist Church in Frazee. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Amber was born September 12, 1978, in Detroit Lakes, MN, to Robert and Becky (Baker) Schmidt. She grew up and attended school in Frazee.
She was married to Jeff Kowalzek on June 28, 2002, at the United Methodist Church in Frazee. This union was blessed with a daughter, Paige. They lived in Cameron, North Carolina, until Jeff's passing on May 20, 2004. Amber and Paige then returned to Minnesota where they resided until the time of Amber's passing.
Amber is survived by her daughter, Paige Kowalzek; her mother, Becky Baker; 2 sisters: Lacy Schmidt and Samantha Schmidt; 2 grandmothers: Millie Baker and Selma "Sally" Schmidt; along with many aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jeff; father, Robert; 2 grandfathers: Orin Baker and Lloyd Schmidt; and 1 uncle, Lyle Schmidt.
