Angeline Hoffman

Angeline Glawe Hoffman, 86, Bemidji, MN, formerly of Vergas, MN, died Sunday, August 31 at Sanford Hospital in Bemidji. Funeral services will be 11:00 PM Friday, September 5 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Vergas, Reverend Robert Hinkley, officiating. Interment will be in the Lake Sybil Cemetery.
Friends may call 4:30 – 7:00 PM Thursday with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at St. John’s Lutheran Church. The visitation will continue 1 hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
Angeline Glawe Hoffman was born October 20, 1927 in Staples, MN to Jacob and Hannah (Holte) Hove. She attended rural school in Ada and Twin Valley, MN and is a 1945 graduate of Twin Valley High School. After graduation, she worked at Price’s Jewelry in Detroit Lakes. Angeline was united in marriage to James Glawe, September 18, 1949 in Twin Valley. They made their home on the Glawe Family Farm near Vergas, MN until Jim’s death on December 3, 1972. Angeline then moved to Fergus Falls, MN where, having been a local assessor for five different taxing districts, she took off-campus courses to become a CMS (Certified Minnesota Specialist Assessor/Appraiser). She continued to work for Otter Tail County until retiring in January, 1990. She was a member of the Fergus Falls Business and Professional Women (BPW) and the Fergus Falls Day Breakers Lions Group. She was a leader for many years of the Sybil 4-H in which her children were members. She was an active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, a member of V.F.W. Post#1676 Auxiliary in Detroit Lakes, the Sons of Norway – both in Fergus Falls and in Detroit Lakes. She also served two terms as Zone Director for the Sons of Norway.
Angeline was united in marriage to Harold Hoffman, September 10, 1988 in Fergus Falls. They made their home near Vergas until Harold’s death, November 2, 2007. In the fall of 2009, Angeline moved to Bemidji, returning to Vergas during the summer months.
Angeline enjoyed Rosemaling, painting, carving, knitting, reading and making Hardanger.
Survivors include her 4 children: Kathy (Gerald) Moe of Bemidji, MN, Bruce (Melanie) Glawe of Maple Grove, MN, Neal (Jean) Glawe of Detroit Lakes, Philip (Robin) Glawe of Eden Prairie, MN, 8 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, 1 sister, Ruth of Fargo, ND. In addition to her two husbands, Jim and Harold, she was preceded in death by two brothers and 4 sisters: Raymond, Oliver Karla, Juliette, Alice (her twin) and Joann.
