The funeral services for Aurlette Thelma Schepper, 96, Vergas, MN will be Monday, September 21, 2009, at 11 a.m., at St. Paul's Lutheran Church-Loon Lake, Vergas, MN with Reverend Robert Hinckley officiating. Burial will follow at the Weimann Community Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled at St. Paul's Lutheran Church-Loon Lake, Vergas, MN on Sunday, September 20, 2009, from 4-7 p.m., and also one hour prior to the funeral service at the church. Aurlette died Tuesday, September 15, 2009, at the Good Samaritan Center in Pelican Rapids, MN, under the care of Lakeland Hospice.
Aurlette Thelma Thompson was born February 5, 1913, in Pelican Rapids, MN to Torger and Clara (Hjelle) Thompson. She was baptized in 1913 in Pelican Valley Church in Pelican Rapids and was confirmed from there in May of 1926. After high school, she attended Moorhead State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science and Special Education degrees. She taught elementary school in rural schools in Otter Tail County, Perham and Dent, MN. Aurlette married Carl Richard Schepper on July 19, 1941 in the Pelican Valley Church. After marriage she moved with Carl to the Schepper farm in rural Vergas and lived there until she moved into Vergas assisted living in October 2005. She remained in Vergas until she moved to the Good Samaritan Center on March 21, 2009.
Aurlette enjoyed bus and plane tours visiting many different U.S. states and especially Norway. She was a member of the Vergas area Rod & Gun Club, Lutheran Women's Missionary League and Edna/Dora Homemakers. She also volunteered at Perham Memorial Home and The Sr. Citizens in Vergas.
Aurlette is survived by two daughters, Annette (Chuck) Arvidson of Vergas, MN and Gretchen Rosentreter of Fergus Falls, MN; three sons, Thomas (Caryl) Schepper of Perham, MN, Steven (Carol) Schepper of Clear Lake, CA, and Philip (Audrey) Schepper of St. Cloud, MN; 15 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Ruth Thompson; one niece and two nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Carl Richard Schepper, her parents, one grandson, sisters, Evelyn Restad and Lillian Bliton; and brother, Clifton Thompson.
Memorials may be given to Lakeland Hospice.
