Betty Lorraine Palmer, age 90, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 6, 2018, at the Hadley House Assisted Living in Perham, Minnesota.
Betty was born December 30, 1927, in Frazee, Minnesota, the daughter of Harry and Elizabeth (Daubenspeck) Holmer. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Frazee. Betty grew up attended country school in rural Frazee. She graduated from Frazee High School with the class of 1946. Betty continued her education at St. Cloud teacher’s college graduating in 1948. She taught school in Staples, Bemidji, and Frazee. Betty enjoyed teaching, which had been a dream of hers since she was in the second grade.
On June 6, 1953, Betty was united in marriage to Morris Palmer. To this union two children were born. They made their home and farmed in Evergreen Township, retiring in 1984.
Betty enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, and reading. She also did some catering over the years, especially known for her famous buns. Her family was always her priority and she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Betty loved babysitting whenever she could and was “Nana B” to them.
She is survived by her daughters: Kathleen (Bill) Lindow of Frazee; Cynthia (Bruce) Kading of Detroit Lakes; grandchildren: Kari (Drew) Morse, Wayne Kading, Jennifer (Mike) Meier, Rebecca (Kurt) Jorgenson; great-grandchildren: Donovan Morse, Natasha and Joshua Meier, Ty and Matt Jorgenson; sister: Donna Luptak of Bismarck, North Dakota; brothers: Dick (Marjorie) Holmer of Topeka, Kansas; Harry (Donna) Holmer of Silver Bay; In-laws: Betty Holmer, Vivian Holmer of Frazee; LaVern Holmer of Park Rapids; Arlene Simpson of San Diego, California; Ralph Palmer of Babbitt.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband Morris in 2003; parents: Harry and Elizabeth Holmer; grandson: Joshua Lindow; brothers: Leonard, Vernon, Elmer, Donald, Robert, and Jerome Holmer; sisters: Evelyn Rux, Lucille Stapleton, Ethel Maves, and Alice Arndt.
