Beverly L Sherman

February 22, 1937 — May 23, 2024

Frazee

Beverly LaVonne Sherman was born in February 1937 during a snowstorm in old town Clitherall, the first child of Glen and Myrtle Fletcher. She was the proverbial tomboy, always had skinned knees, definitely preferred being outdoors, and loved to spear suckers for her dad to smoke. She graduated from Battle Lake high school and always looked forward to the class reunions. "Beauty Operator" school in Wadena was the next step after high school and she was employed in Wadena until her marriage to Francis Sherman in 1964. She worked as a nurse's aide for many years at nursing centers including Ottertai Nursing Home, Broen Home, and Perham Living, where she enjoyed caring for and was a staunch advocate for the residents.

Gramma Bev was always the jokester of the family, loved to laugh and make others smile, especially her grandchildren, she was, by definition, selfless. If she felt she had something that you needed (and sometimes when you didn't) it was offered to you even if she, herself, needed it. She exemplified the meaning of existing simply, yet joylully. She was an example of being able to truly enjoy life without tying it to monetary gain or worldly possessions. Children, animals, gardens. needlework, and polka music brought her happiness, and her family recognizes and greatly respects this distinction, a breath of fresh air in today's world. The G Bev memories will, no doubt be passed on for generations. We love you.

She is survived by her sister Karen Selvaag, Sioux Falls, SD, three daughters, Terry Stewart, Alexandria, MN, and Candy (Don) Lachowitzor, Ottertail, MN, 12 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents. sister Joyce Askland and her husband Richard. Brother Ken Fletcher and wife Bonnie, brother-in-low Stan Selvaag, son-in-law Tom Stewart and grandson, Ben Stavaas.
