Bonita Jonas

Bonita "Bonnie" Jonas, 84, passed away on May 12, 2025, at Frazee Care Center.

Bonita was born and raised in Devils Lake, ND. She graduated from Central High School in 1959. She also attended the tech college in Detroit Lakes, MN and graduated with a degree in bookkeeping.

Bonita married Herb Jonas on July 4, 1974, in Fargo, ND. That December they welcomed their miracle and beloved adopted son, Brett. They all later moved to Detroit Lakes, MN and lived there for many years. Due to issues with her health, Bonita resided at the Frazee Care Center for the past 8 months.

Bonita enjoyed going to the Detroit Lakes Community Center for exercising, visiting and having coffee with her friends. She was a great cook and baker-made the best Rossettes and Krumkake for the holidays. She also liked reading a good mystery novel, knitting, crocheting and of course shopping.

Bonita is survived by her husband, Herb; brother, Bradley (Lydia) Christesen; sister, Gay (Robert) Hoffman and her coffee group friends.

Bonita is preceded in death by her parents, sister Judy and son Brett.

Memorial service to be held Friday, May 16 at David-Donehower Funeral Home 609 US Hwy 10 East in Detroit Lakes MN. Visitation at 10am with service at 11am.
