Carol Funkhouser
October 8, 1960 — January 12, 2018
Carol A. Funkhouser, age 57, passed away peacefully in her home on January 12, 2018 after courageously battling a lifelong illness.
Carol was born in St. Paul Park, MN on October 8, 1960 to Fred & Shirley (Maher) Funkhouser. She graduated from Frazee High School in 1978 then continued on to earn a Registered Nursing Degree from North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton. Carol worked as an RN at the Frazee Care Center for over 25 years, then worked as a Home Health Aide for Harmony Home Care in Fergus Falls, MN until she had to leave in 2017 due to her health condition. Carol was an active member of United Methodist Church in Frazee and loved spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed baking, reading, flower gardening, and her most recent pastime, online shopping.
Carol is survived by her sister-in-law, Linda Funkhouser, nieces Cami (Jerry) Basta, Kimberly VanAlstine, and great nieces and nephews. Carol is also survived by her “adopted” family of over 45 years; her best friend and sister Tammy (Randy) Golkowski, Shirley Fett, the woman she lovingly called mom, sisters, Vickie (Keith) Adams & Susan (Michael) Bolton, nieces and nephews, Tiffany (Troy) Haugen, Zachary (Tawni) Golkowski, Alex (Dani) Adams, Stacey (Ryan) Feldt, and eight great nieces and nephews.
Carol is preceded in death by her mother and father, Fred and Shirley Funkhouser, brother, Tom Funkhouser and dad, Andy Fett.
There will be a visitation at the Furey Funeral Home in Frazee, MN on Monday, January 15, 2018 from 5-7pm with a prayer service at 7pm. Her remains will be cremated and laid to rest in the spring. A brief ceremony will be planned for that event. She will be deeply missed by all her family and friends.
