Charlotte D. Tate, age 92, of Frazee, MN, passed away Tuesday, October 25, 2011, at the Frazee Care Center, surrounded by her loved ones.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Friday, October 28, 2011, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church - Evergreen, MN. Interment will be made in the church cemetery. Lunch will be hosted at the church following the service for all to attend. Visitation will be held at the Furey Funeral Home, Frazee from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, October 27, 2011, with a prayer service to take place at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
Charlotte was born September 21, 1919, the youngest of 6 children born to John A. and Myrtle L. (Derrick) Cassel at Fergus Falls, MN. She grew up and attended school in Fergus Falls, MN, graduating from Fergus Falls High School with the class of 1937. Following her schooling, she took on a number of jobs. She met Frederick Tate Sr. while he was stationed at the local Fergus Falls CC Camp. The couple was married February 1, 1942, in Winona, MN. This union was blessed with 5 children: Frederick Jr., Marie, Lucinda, Katherine and Charles. The young couple lived in various places until making their home in Frazee in 1959, where they raised their family.

Charlotte was an excellent cook and baker and enjoyed preparing delicious meals and homemade treats for her growing family. She was a woman of many talents and interests and will always be remembered for her beautiful penmanship. She taught her children many valuable skills; pheasant hunting was just one of them. She also liked to travel and was blessed with the opportunity to travel to many cities in the U.S., and even made a trip to Alaska. She dearly enjoyed the company of her family and friends.

Charlotte served as a 4-H leader for several years; was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church - Evergreen; and also served in the homemakers club for a number of years.

Charlotte is survived by her husband, Fred Tate Sr.; 5 children: Frederick Jr. (Sharon Karjala), Marie (Marvin) Parvi, Lucinda (Dennis) Hagen, Katherine (Dennis) Huwe and Charles (Vickie Feldt) Tate; 12 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren with 2 more on the way; 5 great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; 4 brothers and 1 sister.
