Dale Tappe

February 28, 1958 — November 10, 2021

Dale Roy Tappe, “Bear”, was born February 28, 1958 in Wausau, Wisconsin. He was the son of Jerome K. and Martina (Braith) Tappe. He passed away November 10, 2021, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Detroit Lakes, MN.

Dale grew up in Frazee, MN.  As a young teen, he worked at a turkey farm picking eggs and also worked at the Frazee Bakery making donuts and getting up at 2am. He graduated from Frazee High School with the class of 1977.  Dale proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps receiving his honorable discharge in 1980. He returned home from the service and attended Detroit Lakes Vo-Tech completing his degree in Autobody. He taught autobody at the vo-tech for years which furthered his love of vehicles.

Dale worked very hard his entire life. He worked as a truck driver and installed cable television in California before returning to Minnesota. He was a jack of all trades and worked as a handyman for several years. Dale was one of the hardest working people we  knew and he treasured his work ethic.

On August 4, 1990, he was united in marriage to Lynn Bond at the Almont Lutheran Church in Almont, North Dakota. To this union two daughters, Alexis and Josi, were born. Their family made their home in Frazee and Dale worked in trucking and auto body repair. He enjoyed hunting, repairing cars, riding motorcycles, driving his Barracuda and demolition derbies for 35 years. Dale’s outlook on life was to always brighten someone's day and make them smile. Any room he entered, he created infectious laughter and smiles.

He was a loving father who supported his daughters in everything from education to sports. He loved them unconditionally even if that left him cheering all alone in the stands.

Dale is survived by his daughters: Alexis Tappe and Josi Tappe; siblings: Scott (Sue) Kotasek, Jerome (Denise) Tappe, Kathleen Tappe, Byron (Karen) Tappe, Willie (Robyn) Tappe, Rita (Alan) Erickson, Lisa Tappe-Plummer, Abe (Jolene) Tappe; several nieces and nephews; friend and mother of his daughters: Lynn Tappe.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Jerome K. and Martina Tappe.
