Darlene M. Kiehl, 74, Frazee, MN, passed away Thursday, April 26, 2012, at Essentia Health in Fargo, ND.
A memorial service will take place 10:30 a.m., Thursday, May 3, 2012, at Furey Funeral Home in Frazee, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
She was born the daughter of Lawrence and Ellna (Peterson) Ellis in Detroit Lakes. She graduated from Detroit Lakes School, class of 1955. On February 23 of this year, Darlene celebrated 55 years of marriage to Richard Kiehl. They made their home in Detroit Lakes and then moved to Frazee. She worked at the Graystone Hotel in Detroit Lakes, Beug's Coast to Coast Hardware in Detroit Lakes and then a wonderful homemaker.
She enjoyed playing the accordion, sewing, crafting, baking and canning, but her most cherished moments were spent visiting with family and friends. She was baptized and attended First Lutheran Church in Detroit Lakes in earlier years.
She is survived by her husband, Richard of Frazee; 2 sons: Robert (Sheila) of Frazee, Michael (Kathie) of Detroit Lakes and one daughter, Nancy (Kyle Klemm) of Frazee; seven grandchildren: Sarah, Jamie, Grant (Leticia), Brent, Gus, Jacob, Aaron; two sisters: Linda (John) Martinson and LaNae (Tony) Kostecky both of Detroit Lakes; nieces and nephews, and grand nieces and grand nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents and one brother, Larry, aunts and uncles.
