A private family memorial service will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Frazee at a later date.

Spring burial will be at St. Henry's Catholic Cemetery in Perham.

David Clarence Dorn passed away unexpectedly at his home on Tuesday, December 13, 2020 at the age of 66. Being the baker he was, he had just finished making chocolate star cookies and slipped away from us while resting in his chair.

David, known as Bobo to many, was born at St. James Hospital in Perham, MN on February 25, 1954 to William (Bill) and Bernadine (Steinbach) Dorn. His family lived and farmed outside of Frazee where he attended country school through the 4th grade and then went to “town” school where he graduated in 1972.

He worked most of his adult life at Barrel O’ Fun and continued with Shearer’s until he retired in March 2017. He lived on a small hobby farm outside of Frazee where he raised chickens and goats with the occasional beef stock and even a few ostriches. He had a passion for gardening and tended a magnificent garden every year filled with vegetables & beautiful flowers. His pickles should have won blue ribbons and were famous among family & friends. He canned many things from jellies and jams, to sauces and vegetables. He was a wonderful baker and never showed up empty handed without a dessert in hand, whether it be cookies, cakes or pies, you knew Bobo made it. He enjoyed reading as a past-time and sat on his porch in the summer with his book while he watched many hummingbirds and orioles feed and his martins sing and fly around.

David enjoyed serving the Lord and was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Frazee. He also had a love for singing, was a member of the church choir, Easter Cantata, and sang for many funerals.

David is survived by his brother Bill Dorn (Norm Vork); his sister Mary (Albert) Holzer; nephew Jacob (Jamie) Holzer and their 2 girls Jacqueline & Julia; niece Erin (Joe) Gjerde and their 3 children Lauren, Colter & William; nephew Matthew (Elizabeth) Holzer and their twin girls Ellie & Eve. David also had a special bond with Brian (Sarah) Holzer and their children, Skylar, Leah, Reagan & Silas; many cousins, great neighbors and friends. Lastly, he is survived by his beloved dog, Trouble, an Australian shepherd blue heeler mix who watched over his goat flock & recently became her name sake, creating trouble as a house dog.

His parents Bill and Bernie, grandparents, and all of his aunts and uncles have welcomed Bobo in heaven where there is surely a game of Pinochle or Whist going.
