Deloris Soland

Deloris Lena (Vik) Soland, age 87, passed away Saturday, March 12, 2016, at Vibra Hospital in Fargo.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, March 19, 2016 at Zion Lutheran Church on Franklin Lake, Pelican Rapids, MN. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m., Friday, March 18, 2016 at the Furey Chapel in Vergas, MN with a prayer service to take place at 7 p.m.  Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.  Burial will be made at the Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery.

Deloris was born on June 2, 1928 to Ole and Mable (Young) Vik at home in Wilkin County near Breckenridge, MN. At the age of 5, she moved with her family to rural Underwood where she attended country school near Phelps Mill.   She moved again when she was 14 to Candor Township near Vergas.

Deloris married Albert Soland on October 24, 1948.

Deloris worked at several places including West Central Turkeys in Pelican Rapids, Bylanders Resort, as well as working alongside Bert in the woods logging, wood cutting and on the sawmill. In later years, she enjoyed volunteering at the Perham Nursing Home.

Deloris enjoyed fishing, gardening (especially picking raspberries and growing flowers). She enjoyed watching and feeding the birds, and visiting with family and friends.

Deloris was baptized in 1928. She was confirmed and married at Zion Lutheran Church Franklin Lake, where she was a lifelong member.

Deloris is survived by one daughter, Joyce (Bob) Krueger of Vergas; one son, Sidney Soland of Vergas; 4 Grandchildren: Shelly (Marty) Tallakson of Moorhead, Tracy (Ryan) Roforth of Frazee, Eric Soland of Perham and Amanda (Larry) Myers of Cloquet, MN; 6 Great-Grandchildren: Brock and Ethan Tallakson, Ricky and Zachary Roforth, Aryanna and Avaya Myers; and a special sister-in-law, Alvina Huntstiger; along with many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two infant brothers: Leonard and Ole; and her husband of 50 years, Albert (Bert) in 1999.
