Donna Peterson

Donna Mae (Olson) Peterson, age 71, of Vergas, MN, passed away peacefully following a short battle with cancer, on Tuesday, December 6, 2016, at Sanford Health in Fargo, ND.

Funeral services for Donna will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, December 10, 2016, at Furey Funeral Home Chapel in Vergas, MN. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Furey Funeral Home is assisting the family with funeral arrangements www.fureyfh.com.

Donna was born May 11, 1945, in Adrian, MN, to Alf and Doris (Burk) Olson. Donna grew up in Magnolia, MN, where she graduated with the class of 1963. During her younger years, Donna enjoyed playing on a town league fast-pitch softball team.

Following her graduation, Donna moved to Minneapolis, MN, where she worked for the IDS Insurance Company and later NSP, where she did keyboarding and data entry. During her time living in Minneapolis, Donna met Roger Peterson. The couple married September 23, 1967, in Richfield, MN, where they made their home. The couple enjoyed playing co-ed volleyball and softball.

The couple moved to Bakersfield, CA, where they purchased a convenience store that they owned and operated for about 13 years. The couple then moved to Roger's family home on Lake Sybil.

Donna gained employment at a Mink Ranch where she worked for a couple of years until taking a job managing Heisler's Country Store where she worked until retirement.

The couple enjoyed fishing on Lake Sybil and canning the produce from their well-tended garden. Donna was also an avid Minnesota Vikings and Twins fan.

Donna is survived by husband, Roger of Vergas; 3 siblings: Ronnie (Johnnie) Olson of Henning, Larry (Pat) Olson of Wilmot, SD, and Marilyn Bergman of Luverne, MN; and brother-in-law, Chuck Kussman of Dayton, MN; along with many nieces and nephews.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Joe Ray; brother-in-law, Leon Bergman; sister-in-law, Carol Kussman; and nephew, Bruce Olson.
