Faye M. Cole, 85, resident of Frazee, MN, died Saturday, May 21, 2011 at the Frazee Care Center, Frazee, MN.
Funeral Services for Faye will be held Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at 2:00 PM in United Methodist Church, Frazee. Visitation will be held Monday, May 23, 2011 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Furey Funeral Home in Frazee, MN. Visitation will also continue one hour prior to services on Tuesday at the church. Interment will be held at Lakeside Cemetery, Frazee.
Faye Marie Knudsen was born March 14, 1926 in Tyler, MN to George and Katherine (Marti) Knudsen. She was raised and educated in Lake Benton and attended country school District 23 and also one year in Morris, MN. In 1940, she along with her family moved to Frazee. While in Frazee, Faye met the love of her life, Lyle Cole. They were united in marriage on March 18, 1944 at the United Methodist Church and for 64 years never left each others side. Lyle died on July 15, 2008.
During her younger years, Faye was employed at the 5 & Dime Store in Frazee. She candled eggs for a time but the majority of her working career was with Arctic Cat in Detroit Lakes. When Arctic Cat closed, Faye worked for Perham Sewing for a short period and finished her career with Frazee Care Center in the housekeeping department. Faye retired in 1981. She enjoyed her retirement years tending to her gardens every spring and summer, playing with her cats, crocheting and needlepoint where she made clothes for almost every family member, but always centered her life on her family.
Faye's hard work ethic, commitment to family and zest for life will be missed by her daughter: Karla (Donald) Cole-Dease of Fargo, ND, brother: George (Lorraine) Knudsen of Frazee, MN, sister: Nancy Smith of Detroit Lakes, MN, daughter-in-law: Kathy Cole of Frazee, two grandchildren: Dawn (Jim) Sipe of Detroit Lakes, MN, Forrest (Kristina) Cole of Frazee along with two great grandchildren, one great great granddaughter and five step-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband Lyle, son: Clayton (1981), her parents, one brother: Donald Knudsen and step mother: Mayme Knudsen.
