Frances Christensen

Frances Christensen, age 93, of Frazee, MN, passed away Saturday, August 22, 2020, at her home under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Funeral service will be 11:00 AM Friday, August 28, 2020, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Frazee, MN. Visitation will be 1-hour prior. Burial at Lakeside Cemetery following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Bethlehem Lutheran Church Radio Ministry.

Frances was born November 21, 1926, to Carl and Ethel (Olson) Johnson at Alta, Iowa. She attended and graduated from Aurelia High School in Iowa. After high school, she furthered her education and graduated from Iowa State Teachers College of Cedar Falls, Iowa. She taught school at Moville and Lake City, Iowa before her marriage.

On September 2, 1950, Frances Johnson was united in marriage to Arnold Christensen at Immanuel Lutheran Church in rural Alta, Iowa, where her grandparents had been charter members of the congregation when it was formed in 1884. In the Fall of 1953, the couple moved to Becker County of Minnesota. To this union of marriage 4 children were born: Dennis, Richard, Leslie, and Avis.

Frances was employed by Norseman Motors in Detroit Lakes, MN for 30 years. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Frances also enjoyed playing card games and scrabble.

She is survived by 3 sons: Dennis (Doreen) of Cody, WY; Richard of Frazee; Leslie (Wendy) of Frazee; 1 daughter: Avis Quenette of Frazee; 7 grandsons; 9 great-grandsons; 7 great-granddaughters.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Ethel; grandson: Arnie Christensen; and daughter-in-law: June Heafey.
