Gertie was born December 9, 1919, in Mason City, IA, the younger of two children born to William and Julia (Lindow) Scott. She grew up in St. Paul, MN.
Gertie was united in marriage to Rudolph Johnson on October 5, 1946, in St. Paul, MN. The couple raised 3 daughters: Gloria, Deborah and Carla. They lived in Circle Pines, MN, until they made their home on Big McDonald Lake in 1979. Gertie was a homemaker and loved taking care of her growing family and her time at the lake. In 1991, Rudolph and Gertie made their home in the Vergas apartments.
During her younger years, Gertie enjoyed fishing at the lake. She also enjoyed arts and crafts that she shared with her family and friends. She was a great neighbor to all and always had a smile and a wave for each of them. She always found time to make it to senior meals at the Loon's Nest where she enjoyed a great meal and visiting with friends. Family always came first for Gertie and she loved the time she spent with her family always adoring them with hugs, kisses and laughter. She was a member of the Vergas United Methodist Church.
