Harold Walter Wallace, age 98, lifelong resident of Vergas, MN, passed away Thursday, March 21, 2013, at the Frazee Care Center.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, March 25, 2013, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church - Loon Lake. Visitation will be held from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, March 24, 2013, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church - Loon Lake with a prayer service to be held at 4 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Lunch will be served following the service. Burial will take place in the Lakeview Township Cemetery at a later date.

Harold was born November 13, 1914, to John and Ella (Lund) Wallace in Candor Township, Otter Tail County, MN. Harold was baptized November 6, 1915, at First Methodist Church in Detroit Lakes, MN. He was confirmed in faith on December 16, 1948, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Loon Lake by Reverend Theodore Schauland. He attended country school at District 121 in Candor Township through the 8th grade.

Harold married Iota Olive Lewis on October 17, 1938, in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. A son, Walter was born to the couple. Iota passed away November 14, 1984. He married Dorothy (Ulrich) Carlson on September 19, 1987. She passed away June 16, 1990.

Harold farmed in the Vergas area, eventually selling the family farm to his son, Walter. In 1980, he moved into Vergas. He continued to do field work on the farm for many years. He belonged to the Lake Sybil Rod & Gun Club and the Vergas Lions Club. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church - Loon Lake. He loved to dance, and attended many dances in the area. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He also liked cutting grass, driving the tractor, snowmobiling, and wood working in the shop.

Harold was a kind man who was a blessing to many. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his son, Walter (Diana) of Vergas, MN; three grandchildren: Jim (Teresa) of Vergas, Deborah (Bob) Fettig at Barnesville, MN, and Nancy (Scott) Benke of Dent, MN; 10 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by 12 step-children: JoLeen (Dale) Kruger of Osage, MN, Deanna (Richard) Noel of Frazee, MN, Connie (Ron) Baumgart of Colorado Springs, CO, Sheri (Doug) Leitheiser of Rochert, MN, Cari (Mike) Evavold of Dalton, MN, Carlee (Scott) Frey of Detroit Lakes, MN, Cally (Darby) Nundahl of Frazee, MN, Myron (Judy) Guhlke of Osakis, MN, Jay Guhlke of Colorado Springs, CO, Lynnae (Robin) Guhlke of Lake Crystal, MN, Scott (Pam) Guhlke of Moorhead, MN, Lee (Kristina) Carlson of Park Rapids, MN; along with many step-grandchildren and great grandchildren; and good friend, Audrey Clementson of Eagle Bend, MN.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Iota; his second wife, Dorothy; 4 brothers: Robert, William, Ernist and Warren Wallace; two sisters: Bessie Wilke and Mary Fingalson; a great great grandson, Brayden Kamphuis and a step daughter, Arla Sunram.
