Jack Wood

September 15, 1941 — June 8, 2019

Jack Wood was born September 15, 1941 in Rose Creek, Minnesota, the son of Donald and Gloria (Watkins) Wood. He passed away June 8, 2019 at Ecumen – Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes surrounded by his family.

He grew up and attended school in Rose Creek and moved with his family to Milaca as a young man. Jack faithfully served his country in the U.S. Army receiving his honorable discharge in 1966. Jack returned to Milaca and began working in the logging industry.

On December 2, 1975, Jack was united in marriage to Carrol Hanson in Onamia and they made their home in Milaca. The family moved to Frazee and Jack began driving truck.  He drove for North Star Trucking, and Thompson, INC before retiring from Daggett’s Trucking Company.

Jack was a loving father and devoted husband that enjoyed fishing, bear baiting, and all things outdoors. He was able to go ice fishing one last time on December 15th with his son Jamie. Jack was a master tradesman and was known to be able to fix almost everything.

He is survived by his wife Carrol of Frazee; children: Jamie (Tana) Wood of Frazee; Tom (Jeanie) Youngs of Frazee; Marilyn Hanson of Frazee; Roger (Nancy) Youngs of Frazee; Gene (Sandy) Youngs of Frazee; Kelly (Marlette) Youngs of Detroit Lakes.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Gloria Wood.
