Kay Dinger

June 28, 1941 — December 17, 2010

Kay Inis Dinger, age 69, of Frazee, MN, passed away peacefully, Friday, December 17, 2010 at the Frazee Care Center with her family at her side.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Frazee with Rev. William Aufdenkamp officiating. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at Furey Funeral Home in Frazee. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials are prefered.

Kay was born June 28, 1941, in Breckenridge, ND, at the St. Francis hospital to Fred and Mildred Mindeman. She was baptized at the Peace Lutheran Church in Barney, ND. Kay was confirmed at the Kindred Lutheran church. She attended grade school at Garber Township Country School through third grade. She then attended Kindred Public School through her graduation in 1959.
Kay attended Valley City Teachers College obtaining her degree in elementary education and also earned a B.S. at Moorhead State University. She held teaching positions in Hunter, ND and Georgetown, MN until she became a mother and devoted farm wife. She returned to work as a Medical Receptionist at the Casselton, ND clinic and later as a bookkeeper at Casselton Farmers Union. She later moved to the Detroit Lakes area and worked at The Lady's Unique as well as being a hostess for Newcomers. She then returned to the medical reception profession and worked at Dakota clinic several years until her retirement. In her retirement she worked part time as a hostess at McDonald's and volunteered at the Frazee elementary school.
Kay was a devoted Mother and Grandmother who loved spending time with family. She especially enjoyed entertaining friends and family at her lake cabin on Star Lake where many days were spent swimming, picnicking and watching sunsets. She also enjoyed traveling, cross country skiing, dancing, playing cards and crafts. She especially loved ceramics which she liked to share with others as gifts. She was also a passionate gardener and loved the color purple.
Kay was also involved in many activities including Eastern Star, Circle, bowling, golf, and her church. She was a facilitator for Beginning Experience
Kay passed peacefully in the loving and dedicated presence of her daughter-in-law, son and daughter. And, the caring staff of the Frazee Care Center to whom the family extends their deep gratitude.
She is survived by Dennis Dinger; her two children: James (Lisa) Piper, Frazee, MN and Michelle Piper, San Diego, CA; two grandchildren Jena and Cody Piper of Frazee, MN and also her sister Dona (Jim Heidbrink) Mindemann, Burnsville, MN and brother Lee (Becky) Mindemann, Dent, MN. She will also be greatly missed by the extended Piper family.
Kay was preceded in death by her parents.
