Lloyd Beckman

Lloyd George Beckman, age 79, of Frazee, MN died peacefully on the morning of Monday, May 1, 2023 at St. Mary’s Hospital, in Detroit Lakes, MN.

Lloyd was born on April 7, 1944 to George and Hazel (Moeller) Beckman in Huron, SD. He graduated from Huron High School in 1962 and enlisted in the Air Force in 1964. After the service, he returned home to work on the family farm for a short time, then worked as a manager in the grain elevator business for ten years. He drove truck over the road for the next 38 years, collecting several Million-Mile awards along the way. In his retirement Lloyd enjoyed his work as a greeter at WalMart in Detroit Lakes where he became a familiar face and a well-loved “Grandpa” to many from the surrounding communities.

Lloyd married Judine Nelson in 1966. They had five children; Gary (Toni) Beckman of Ault, Colorado; Debra (Mike) Carroll of Huron, SD; Lisa Beckman of Minneapolis, MN; Karla (Jesse) Perez of Grand Forks, ND; and Sherri Davey of New York Mills, MN.

Lloyd married Jerilyn (Dunn) Williams in 1993. Jerilyn also had five children who were very much a part of Lloyd’s life: Steven (Mona) Williams of Big Lake, MN; Susan (Chris) Sullivan of Plymouth, MN; Michael (Ronda) Williams of Lindstrom, MN; Kathy (Matthew) Torgerson of Detroit Lakes, MN; and Maggie (Craig) Weierke of Chaska, MN.

Together, Lloyd and Jerilyn raised three grandchildren: Katie, Cody, and Maddie Williams.

Lloyd is survived by his wife, Jerilyn; his sisters, Jean (Bud) Hart of Huron, SD; Ethel (Clarence) Nelson of Huron, SD; Marlene (Harold) Forbes of Mobridge, SD; Lois (Norm) Ferguson of Huron, SD; as well as thirty grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his brothers Richard Beckman and Carl Beckman; sister, Carol Baum; daughter, Sherri Davey; and grandson, Alec Davey.
