Mae Merril Schultz, age 86, of Perham, MN, formerly of Frazee, MN, passed away Saturday, September 15, 2012, at Perham Hospital.
Funeral services will be held 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, September 19, 2012, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church - Evergreen, MN. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at the church. Interment will be made next to her late husband, Elmer, in St. Paul's Lutheran Church Cemetery. Lunch will be served following the service for all to attend. Furey Funeral Home, Frazee, MN is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
Mae was born January 5, 1926, in Evergreen Twp., Becker Co., MN, to Leonard and Frieda (Wendt) Baumgart. She was baptized on February 7, 1926, and confirmed on March 25, 1940 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church - Evergreen. Mae attended country school in Evergreen Twp., through the 8th grade.
Following her schooling, Mae was granted the opportunity to move to St. Paul, MN. There, she worked as a nanny for a family. She then returned to Perham, MN, where she worked as a waitress at a local restaurant.
She was united in marriage to Elmer Schultz on November 9, 1946, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church - Evergreen. This union was blessed with two children: Laurel and James.
Mae enjoyed life on the family farm where she cared for her family. She enjoyed baking, cooking, tending her gardens and canning. In her spare time, she enjoyed embroidery and later in life, caring for her grandchildren.
Mae lived in Evergreen Twp., until moving to St. James Manor in Perham in January of 2008. She truly enjoyed the time she lived at St. James Manor and made many friends. She also enjoyed being involved in all of the activities.
Mae is survived by her two children: Laurel (Bob) Scribner of Bena, MN and James (LaDene) Schultz of Frazee, MN; 5 grandchildren: Chris (Sarah) Scribner of Monticello, MN, Clifford Schultz of Little Rock, AR, Jessica (Tim) Kerekes of Frazee, MN, Jackie (Clint) Ortner of Little Rock, AR, and Clayton Schultz of Frazee, MN; 10 great grandchildren; 2 sisters: Virgie (Arlo) Zepper of Richville, MN and Jeanette (Dennis) Schwarzrock of Frazee, MN; and sister-in-law, Dorothy Schultz of Frazee, MN.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Elmer; and 2 sisters: Mildred and infant sister, Alice.
