Funeral services for Malinda Victoria Gamer, 100, Frazee, MN will be held Tuesday, January 19, 2010, 11 a.m., at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Evergreen, rural Frazee, MN with Reverend Anthony Cloose officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday, January 18, 2010, from 4-7 p.m. with a prayer service at 6:00 p.m. at the Furey Funeral Home, Frazee, MN and also 1 hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.
Malinda Victoria Gamer age 100 of Frazee, MN, passed away at the Frazee Care Center on January 15, 2010 with hospice care and her family by her side.
Malinda was born June 1, 1909 to Theodore and Paulina (Bressler) Quade in Evergreen Twp., Frazee, Minnesota. She moved to Canada with her mother at a young age. At age 18, she moved back to the Frazee area to find work. She was schooled in Canada through the 6th grade. Malinda was baptized at St. Paul's Lutheran Church-Evergreen, Frazee, MN on June 27, 1909. She was confirmed on April 5, 1925 in Spring Valley, Sask, Canada. Malinda was united in marriage to Carl Herman Gamer on January 30, 1929 in Evergreen Twp., Frazee. He passed away April 10, 1989. Malinda worked in cook cars in North Dakota, Lakeland Turkey Plant in Frazee, Swift Turkey Plant in Detroit Lakes, MN and Sky View CafAC. in Frazee. Carl and Malinda also owned and operated a farm in Evergreen Twp. for many years.
Her hobbies were crocheting, which she got many ribbons for, knitting, and her flower gardens. She was a wonderful cook and she also took her cooking skills with her to the Frazee Care Center with her fry bread and donuts; something staff and residents looked forward to. Malinda was also president of the Resident Council at the nursing home for a number of years.
Malinda moved from the farm in Evergreen Twp. to the Frazee Assisted Living in 1994 and to the Frazee Care Center in 1999 where she remained until her passing. Above all, Malinda devoted her life to her husband, children, and grandchildren who she loved with all her heart.
Malinda is survived by her three daughters, Arlene Halvorson of Grants Pass, Oregon, Shirley Glander of Frazee, and Carol (Norbert) Litzau of Frazee; twelve Grandchildren; and many Great-Grandchildren; one brother, William "Bill" Harlos of Saskatoon, Canada; one sister-in-law, Hendrika Quade of Kelowna, BC, Canada; and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 60 years, Carl Gamer; daughter, Marilyn Remmen in 1983; two infant children, Loretta and Charles; three grandchildren, Gordon Remmen, Jerome Remmen, and Lori Kay Glander; two sisters, Minnie and Dorothy; three brothers, Art, Roy, & Phillip; three son-in-laws, Lester Remmen, Phil Halvorson, & Norman Glander.
