Marian Ruth Bachmann, 98, of Frazee, MN, Passed away peacefully at Essentia Health Oak Crossing on Thursday, August 28, 2025.
Marian, the youngest of eleven children was born on June 29, 1927, to Emil and Mary (Machenthun) Blauert. She grew up in Height of Land Township and was baptized, confirmed and married at St. John's Lutheran Church-Height of Land. She attended Country School through the eighth grade, and spoke only German until the first grade, learning English by interacting with her classmates.
Marian met Alfred Bachmann during a dance, at the Old Mill Club, near Height of Land Lake. They were married on November 7, 1948, at St. John's Lutheran Church-Height of Land. During their early years of marriage, the lived on Dead Lake, on the farm where Alfred grew up. In 1954, they bought their own farm in Evergreen Township, which they ran for 41 years, before moving to Frazee, MN. Marian and Alfred were blessed with 3 children: Darwin, Allan, and Jolene.
Not Only did Marian work with her family on the farm, but she also enjoyed volunteering, being a waitress at the Spruce Grove Club in Frazee, dancing, playing cards, watching MN Twins baseball, taking trips out west, teaching Sunday School/Vacation Bible School, and partnering with Alfred to be ACT counselors for several years. She and Alfred were recognized for being State Fire Wardens for 45 years and enjoyed being active in the Minnesota Deer Hunters Association. Marian will always be remembered for her famous dill pickles and potato salad: however, her greatest joy was her family, especially taking care of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Marian is survived by her husband of 76 years, Alfred Bachmann, Frazee; 2 children: Son Darwin (Cindy Knudson), Frazee and daughter Jolene (John) Bruhn, Vergas; 13 Grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and extended family; and special caregiver, Theresa Watkins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, son and daughter-in-law Allan and Paulette Bachmann; 1 great grandson, Reed Bachmann; 10 siblings and their spouses; and many other relatives.
In lieu of Flowers, Memorials may be made to the Roger Maris Cancer Center, Fargo ND.
