Marvin Mindermann

September 3, 1928 — December 30, 2017

Marvin Clarence Mindermann, 89, was born on September 3rd, 1928, to Elmer and Augusta Mindermann in Frazee, Minnesota. He went to be with the Lord on December 30th, 2017.

Funeral service will be held on Wednesday January 3rd, at Bethlehem Lutheran in Frazee, MN, at 11 AM. Visitation will be held on Tuesday January 2nd, at the Furey Funeral Home from 4-7, prayer service at 6:30PM. Interment will take place in the spring.

Marvin was raised in the Frazee area. At the age of 19, he enlisted into the United States Air Force and became a photographer. He was the recipient of several important photography awards. Marvin dedicated over 20 years to the Air Force, retiring with Military Honors.  While stationed in Japan, he met and married his beautiful wife, Masako Haruki, on March 15th, 1952.

After leaving the Air Force, Marvin and Masako lived in California for about a year before returning to the area. Marvin worked for Gary’s Furniture briefly before settling in Fargo. While living in Fargo, he worked for Western Auto Supply and owned a four story apartment house that he rented out to tenants. He enjoyed his renters so much, they became his second family.

Upon retiring, Marvin would visit his parents often and take them on outings from the Frazee Care Center.  He spent countless hours with his grandchildren enjoying time with them at the lake cabin.

Marvin was President of Lake Six Lake Association for over 18 years. He was awarded “Volunteer of the Year” in 2011, for the Ottertail County Coalition of Lake Associations.  He was a true environmentalist and passed on his knowledge to his daughter, Marlene.

Marvin is survived by his only daughter: Marlene (Richard) Peterson of Frazee, MN; sister: LaVerne (Butch) Moltzan of Frazee, MN; brother: Elmer Jr (Linda) Mindermann; grandchildren: Ryan (Kristine) Peterson, Laurie (Tom) Bauer; and five great-grandchildren: Calvin, Quinn, Serena, Sylvia, and Shelby Grace.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Augusta; wife, Masako; and one sister, Violet Jepson.
