Milton H. Karppinen, 71, Frazee, MN, passed away Sunday at Sanford Health, in Fargo, ND, surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, October 5, 2013, at Spruce Grove Apostolic Lutheran Church in Wolf Lake, MN with Reverend Elmer Yliniemi officiating. Interment will be in the Wolf Lake Cemetery.
Friends may call 4:00 - 8:00 PM Friday at Furey Funeral Home in Frazee and at the church 1 hour prior to the service on Saturday.
Milton H. Karppinen was born April 30, 1942, in Detroit Lakes, MN to Henry and Mary (Aho) Karppinen. He was raised in the Toad Lakes area of rural Frazee and is a 1961 graduate of Frazee High School. Following graduation, he farmed the family farm near Toad Lake.
Milton enjoyed duck and deer hunting, and fishing.
Survivors include a sister: Elaine (Bruce) Wothe of Atwater, MN; a brother: Mahlon (Cathie) Karppinen of Glyndon, MN; Nieces and Nephews: Lissa (Mark) Borchert of Atwater, MN, Steve (Robin) Wothe of Atwater, MN, Susan (Dominic) Popowski of Louisville, KY, Bob (Meredith) Karppinen of Sioux Falls, SD, Chris (Jennifer) Karppinen of West Fargo, ND; Grand Nieces and Nephews: Miranda, Erica and Carson Borchert, Hunter & Brooke Gronli, Dominique and Ladislia Popowski, Emma, Jaxon Karppinen, Eleanore Karppinen. He was preceded in death by his parents.
