Norbert Hugo Illg

Norbert “Norb” Hugo Illg, 88, of Frazee, Minnesota, passed away on March 22, 2026, in Perham, Minnesota.

Norbert was born in Frazee, Minnesota, to Hugo and Laura (Mischke) Illg, on October 15, 1937. He attended Frazee High School and graduated in 1956. Shortly after graduation, his father passed after being struck by lightning, which resulted in Norbert taking over the family farm. He worked in both construction and on the farm. He married his wife, Beatrice (Keranen) Illg, on August 15, 1970. They enjoyed many activities together, including deer hunting, fishing, dancing, and travelling. He also enjoyed carpentry, woodworking, and going to auctions. Norbert was very proud of his land and farming, and enjoyed spending time there. Norbert could often be seen with his green glove.

Norbert is survived by close friends Lee and Andrew Ingvalson, Donnie Paesler, and Keith Schwichtenberg.

Norbert is preceded in death by his mother, Laura (Mischke) Illg; father, Hugo Illg; wife, Beatrice (Karanen) Illg; brother Steven Illg; and sister, Marion Berg.

Norbert gave faithfully to his church and in lieu of flowers, would appreciate donations to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Frazee, Minnesota.

Services will be held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church on Friday, April 24, 2026, at 11 a.m., with visitation an hour prior. A luncheon will be held after burial.
