Patricia “Patty” Ann Urbach was born June 13, 1954 in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota the daughter of James and Norma (Simmons) Draack. She passed away June 8, 2021 with family at her home in rural Frazee/Vergas.
Patty was baptized and confirmed in the catholic faith at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Frazee. She grew up on the outskirts of town right next to the Spruce Grove dance hall while attending school in Frazee.
On August 27, 1971 she was united in marriage to Larry Urbach at Sacred Heart. To this union three children were born. They made their home in the rural Frazee/Vergas area.
Patty was a stay-at-home mom when the children were young before beginning her career in retail. She worked at J.C. Penny’s in Detroit Lakes before becoming the manager at ‘All in All’ in Frazee. After years of brainstorming Patty starting her dream job as the owner/operator of ‘Gifts from the Heart’ in Perham. She had an eye for design and display like no other. Till her last day friends and family were still asking her for decorating advise! As the retail world changed Patty sold her shop in Perham and moved a smaller version of this dream to the Village Emporium in Wadena where she had a retail booth space and also managed the Coffee House there. In more recent years, again following her dreams she became a vendor at SuLaine’s Antique Mall in Detroit Lakes. This dream turned into a passion (or her kids might say obsession) and one vendor space became two… and two became three…. You get the picture!
This leads us to exactly what she was all about. If you’d stop in at her house you’d either find her scouring the latest décor magazine or the TV would be tuned in to Flea Market Flip or Storage Wars. She’d have a cup of coffee or a Diet Coke in her hand and chances are a tablet in the other where she would be writing ideas or quite possibly a “built it” list for Larry. She was an avid hunter of thrifty treasures and antiques. She spent countless hours with Larry searching for “snaps”. Patty enjoyed family picnics at the lake, flower gardening and trying out new recipes.
Patty is survived by her husband Larry Urbach; children: Kathy (Kevin) Quittschreiber, Karla Urbach Schmidt, Loren (Sarah) Urbach; grandchildren: Kayla (Sam) Oelfke, Brogan Schmidt, Conner Schmidt, Seth Urbach, Leah Urbach; great grandson: Jameson Oelfke; sisters: Barbara (Tom) Loeffen, Nancy (Jonathan) Hebert; Nephews, Great Nieces and Nephews and Friends.
