Ramona Ulschmid

Ramona Ulschmid, age 84, of Frazee, MN, passed away Wednesday, May 9, 2018, at Ecumen-Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes, MN.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Tuesday, May 15, 2018, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Frazee, MN. Burial will be at St. Paul Lutheran Church-Evergreen Cemetery, rural Frazee following the service. Visitation will be Monday, May 14, at Furey Funeral Home, Frazee, MN from 5:00 - 7:00 PM with Prayer Service at 7:00 PM.  Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church

Ramona Alma Ulschmid was born February 21, 1934, in Height of Land Township, Becker County, Minnesota, the daughter of Frank and Anna (Kinnen) Blauert. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church Height of Land. Ramona grew up on the family farm in Height of Land Township and attended country school.

On September 5, 1954, she was united in marriage to George Ulschmid Jr. at St. John’s Lutheran Church Height of Land. To this union seven children were born. Ramona was a farm wife and mother, caring for the house and raising the children. After George passed away in 1983, Ramona moved to Frazee and began working at the Frazee Care Center. Ramona was active at church with the LWML, quilting club, teaching release time, Sunday school, and Vacation Bible school.

Ramona enjoyed gardening, baking, canning and crocheting. Over the years she had made a quilt and afghan for all of her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her children: Debra Engstrom of Detroit Lakes; Joel (Julie) of Henry, South Dakota; Jeffrey (Diane) of Glyndon; Larry (Linda) of Silverdale, Washington; DeeAnn (Glen) Schaefer of Park Rapids; 15 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; son-in-law: Dwight Lundgren of Perham; daughter-in-law: Lena Ulschmid of Lacey, WA; sisters-in-law: Mabel Blauert of Detroit Lakes; Darlene Christensen of Clarkfield; brother-in-law: Bill May of Wadena.

Ramona was preceded in death by her parents: Frank and Anna Blauert; husband: George Ulschmid Jr.; daughter: Susan Lundgren; son: Loran Ulschmid; siblings: Vernon Blauert, Judy Totland, and Sharon May; son-in-law: Roger Engstrom.
