Richard "Dick" C. Sharp, age 79, of Frazee, MN, passed away Friday, June 28, 2013, at the Frazee Care Center.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 2, 2013, at the Furey Funeral Home in Frazee, MN, with visitation beginning one hour prior to the service. Interment will be made at Lakeside Cemetery.
Richard was born June 9, 1934, to Frances and Beatrice (Tucker) Sharp in Silver Leaf Township, Becker County, MN. He grew up in rural Frazee and attended school through the 8th grade. Following his schooling, Richard worked for Burlington Northern Railroad before joining the United States Army. He enlisted in the Army in May of 1957, where he served during the Vietnam War. He was stationed in Germany where he met his wife, Ingrid. The couple was married in Germany on August 23, 1960. A daughter, Beatrice was born to the couple.
Richard was honorably discharged from the Army on July 7, 1972. He went on to live in Oregon for 2 years where he worked on a fishing boat. He then made his way to California where he worked at a saw mill and then a nursery for a time. He retired and moved back to Frazee where he enjoyed fishing, hunting and visiting with family and friends.
He is survived by 8 siblings: Duane Sharp of OR, Catherine Bachman of Detroit Lakes, MN, Leslie (Linda) Sharp of Frazee, Ervin Sharp of OR, Margaret (Jim) Foster of OR, Mary (Ray) Foster of OR, Gordy Sharp of OR, and Fern (Larry) Miller of AZ; sister-in-law, Cleo Sharp of Park Rapids; many nieces and nephews; uncle, Wayne (Bev) Sharp of OR and aunt, Phyllis (Al) Menter of SD.
Preceding Richard in death were his parents; his wife, Ingrid in 1995; daughter, Beatrice Sharp; brother, Darrell Sharp; sister-in-law, Geraldine Sharp; and brother-in-law, John Bachman.
