Sondra Lee Flett

Sondra Lee Flett was born in Lynd, Minnesota on June 2, 1939, to Lyle and Irma (Allen) Powley. When Sondra was 3 years old, they moved to Burbank, California, where her dad worked with the CCC and Lockheed. In 1945 they returned with the family to Brook Park, Minnesota where they started farming. In the fall of 1954, they moved to a farm in the township of Hustletown where she lived during her school years. Sondra married her high school sweetheart on June 27, 1959, in Pine City, Minnesota. They had 2 daughters together Sheri Lynne & Lisa Marie. They divorced in 1977 after 17 years of marriage.

Sondra married the love of her life, Robert Flett on September 17, 1982, and they enjoyed 25 years together before Robert’s death in 2007. They started their married life in Crystal, Minnesota, where Robert owned his own Tile setting business, Sondra helped him keep the books and went with him to help on many jobs. In 1991 they retired to their lake home in Dent, Minnesota on Star Lake. Sondra enjoyed fishing, gardening, reading, knitting and crocheting. She loved her family and enjoyed every moment she could spend with her grandkids and later her great grandkids. Attending softball games, choir and band concerts and any event that was special to them.

Sondra was an avid member of the Vergas United Methodist church, where she wore many hats. As President and then secretary of the Vergas United Methodist Women; Ad Council secretary for many years; was part of the Ladies kitchen band and was lay leader and greeted new visitors to the church. Sondra enjoyed taking care of her church family until her failing health in 2024 kept her from going to church.

Sondra spent the last 2 ½ years living at the Vergas Assisted Living where she made many friends and enjoyed playing bingo and putting together puzzles. Just before Easter this year she moved to the memory care unit at Riverfront on Main in Pelican Rapids where she passed away, on May 12, 2025, with her daughters at her side. She will be truly missed by family and friends.

Sondra is survived by her daughters Sheri (Jodean) Schoenberger, Frazee, MN; Lisa Lynne, Elizabeth, MN; brothers Dennis (Colleen) Powely, Cedar, MN and Rickie (Peggy) Powley, Champlin, Mn. Granddaughters, Dr. Shannon (Nick) Steiner, Hastings MN; Dr. Tiana Lynne; Sierra Lynne, Elizabeth MN and grandsons Kyle Schoenberger, Moorhead MN and Tyler (Ashley) Lynne, New York Mills, MN. Great Grandchildren Britta and Violet Steiner and Asher Lynne. She will also be missed by many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

Proceeding Sondra in death is her husband Robert, her parents Lyle & Irma, baby brother Ray Edward, and many aunts and uncles.
