Vilroy Myers

June 17, 1939 — June 13, 2025

It is with deep sadness that the family of Vilroy Norvinger Myers, age 85, passed away June 14, 2025. Roy was born June 17, 1939, to Keith N. Myers and Lois (Smith) Myers in Chaimberlain, SD.

Growing up in the rural area of Dallas, SD, Roy and his 6 siblings were active in 4-H. The family moved to Gregory SD, where Roy Graduated high school in 1957. Upon graduating, Roy Joined the US Navy where he worked on helicopters. Roy loved to talk about the military and the USS Hornet on which he served.

In the summer of 1962 while surveying in the badlands of North Dakota, Roy met the love of his life, Doris Stigen. They were soon to be married on November 24, 1962. In the summer of 1965, they would move to Frazee, MN where they would make it their home until the time of Roy’s death. It was here that Roy found his career at Dagget Trucking where he would truck for the next 40 years driving over 4 million miles in his career.

When Roy wasn’t trucking, Roy was doing ceramics, gardening, birdwatching, hunting and fishing all with Doris. Roy especially loved their yearly salmon fishing trip to lake Michigan on his pride and joy the “Dusty Rose”. Many competitions were had on who caught the biggest fish with Doris and friends.

Roy is survived by his wife: Doris, and siblings: Larry (Donna) Myers of Tyler, MN, Linda Myers (Goodwin) of Hudson FL, Lela (Dan) Platt of Wadens, MN, Lois Ann Quail of Worland, WY, and Rebecca (Becky) Zimmerman of Gregory, SD. Sister-in-law: Phyllis Wyckoff of Beach, ND. Numerous nieces and nephews.

Roy is preceded in death by his parents: Keith and Lois Myers, in-laws: Vic and Amy Stigen. Brother-in-laws: William (Bill) Goodwin, Jerry Axemaker, Irvin (Butch) Quail, Donald Stigen, Ward Northrup, and Donald Wyckoff. Sister-in-laws, Beverly Northrup and Sharlee Stigen. Niece: Amy Quail and great niece: Megan Bedow.

The family would like to thank the wonderful friends of Roy’s during this time and the staff at St. Catherine North, Fargo.
