Wilma A. Richter, age 93, passed away on August 12, 2024, at home under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.
Wilma Augusta Seedorf was born on August 19, 1930, to William and Lena (Luebberman) Seedorf in Perham Township. She attended school at District 58 and Perham High School graduating with the class of 1948. She worked at Perham Produce and then at the Fairway Grocery Store. At that time the store was sold and the new owner started the first self-serve store in Perham.
Wilma married Ralph Richter on April 25, 1955, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church Loon Lake. They made their home on a farm near Vergas, where they started Lost Valley Resort. After they retired, they spent the winters in Fort Mohave, Arizona.
She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church Loon Lake and a member of LWML. She enjoyed gardening and her flowers, knitting, sewing quilts and all the different crafts she could find to make.
She enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who came to see her often and see if she had any M&M candy.
She is survived by her son, Ronald (Tammy) of Vergas; daughter, Cheryl Richter of Montesano, WA; granddaughter, Jamie (Matt) McCurdy of Vergas; grandsons: Cody (Shelby) Richter of Vergas, Hayden (Briana) Wallace of Montesano, WA; great-grandchildren: Luke, Jack, Leo, Winslow and Warren; sisters-in-law, Irene Seedorf and Careadell Richter; brother-in-law, Bill Richter; many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death her husband, Ralph; parents, William and Lena Seedorf; son, Russell; sisters: Leona (Leo) Rothiger and Loretta Seedorf; brothers: Elmer (LaVonne) Seedorf and Carl Seedorf; brothers-in-law: Rodney (Marjorie) Richter and Leon Richter.
Funeral service for Wilma will be held 11:00am, Monday, August 19, 2024, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church Loon Lake in Vergas, MN with Pastor Del Stohs officiating. Evening visitation will be from 4-6:00pm, Sunday, August 18 at the church with prayer service at 6:00pm. Burial at St. Paul's Lutheran Church Cemetery.
