Garry F Bigger, age 84, of Frazee, MN passed away at his home on October 1, 2020. Garry was born in Mandan, ND on July 14, 1936 to Cornelia “Belle” (Keller) and Samuel Bigger. He lived in Selfridge, ND for a few months. The family lived on two different farms in Erie township before moving to his present home at the age of 6. He attended District 32 country school and graduated from Frazee High School in 1955.
He enlisted in the US Army on March 9, 1959. His basic training was at Ford Hood, Texas with advance training at Fort Chaffee, AR. After that he entered Fort Campbell, KY for Airborne training and became a paratrooper. He was assigned to B Troop, 17th Calvary, was in the Honor Guard, and was honorably discharged.
Back home he married the love of his life, Betty Trieglaff, on September 2, 1963. They lived on his home farm where he milked cows until 1996.
He loved to talk about his airborne service and deer hunting stories. Neighbors often came to his home for coffee and treats. More stories continued.
Garry had a rough voice and scared many people until they got to know him. He had many nicknames; both to his face and behind his back. He had a special place in his heart for all his family and friends.
He leaves his wife Betty; his three sons: Brian, Frazee; Barry (Karren), Frazee; and Brant (Tami), Lake Park; and four grandchildren: Alexandria (Jake) Score, Frazee; Hailey, Blake, and Hannah Bigger, Lake Park; sister: Mary Jane Nestell; extended family: sister-in-law Carol May, brother-in-law Tom (Margaret) Trieglaff; many nieces and nephews; and friends and neighbors.
Preceding him in death were his parents; siblings: Howard, John, Carl, Earl, Frank, Ruby Anderson, Leonard, Delwone, Charles, Elizabeth, and Samuel; and infant granddaughter: Anna Bigger.
