Russell K. Kinnen, age 67, Frazee, MN, died Saturday, February 1, 2020 at his home. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Saturday, February 8 at Furey Funeral Home in Frazee, MN. Visitation from 5:00 – 7:00 PM on Friday at Furey Funeral Home.
Russell Keith Kinnen was born December 29, 1952 in Detroit Lakes, MN to John and Laura (Bonau) Kinnen. He was raised and educated in the Frazee area and is a 1972 graduate of Frazee High School. Following graduation, he attended the Small Engine Program at Detroit Lakes Vocational College. Russ was united in marriage to Linda Ketola in 1973. They moved to Dilworth, MN where Russ worked for A & T Supply as a machinist. They later returned to the Frazee area where Russ opened, and operated an auto repair business for most of his life. In his later years, he also worked driving truck for Wausau Supply, and as a machinist for Homecrest Furniture and Team Industries.
When Russ wasn’t pulling wrenches, he enjoyed fishing, outdoors and cutting wood in his sawmill. Later in life as his health declined, he enjoyed less physical hobbies such as tinkering around his shop, making jewelry from rocks, and gardening.
Survivors include a daughter, Amy Kinnen (Ed Lennon) of Reed Point, MT; a son, Keith (Stacy) Kinnen of Bemidji, MN; 3 grandchildren: Jack Fallang, Caroline Kinnen and Lauren Kinnen; 3 brothers and 2 sisters: Evelyn (Marlow) Moldenhauer of Rose Mount, MN, John Harold Kinnen of Fergus Falls, MN, James (Kaye) Kinnen of Frazee, Ron Kinnen of Frazee, Carol (Elwin) Maki of Ulen, MN.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Laura Kinnen and 2 sisters, Marie Wokasch and June Johnson. Furey Funeral Home is serving the family.
Memorial Service will be held 11:00am Saturday, February 8, at the Furey Funeral Home in Frazee.
Visitation will be Friday evening from 5 - 7:00pm with prayer service at 6:30pm at the Furey Funeral Home
and will continue for one hour prior to the service at the Funeral Home.
