Full History

Records show that the first undertakers in the Frazee area conducted business in the very early 1900s. Initially, Furey Funeral Home was located on Frazee’s main street and was one of the oldest buildings in town. It began as a general store, was used as a movie theater at one point, and became a funeral home operated by L. W. Erickson in the 1940s.

After multiple changes in ownership, Barney and Kay Furey purchased the business from John and Pat Miller. The Fureys, who operated the funeral home from 1963 to 1992, oversaw various remodeling projects throughout their years.

Furey Funeral Home was purchased by the Vertin family out of Breckenridge, MN, in 1992. The current facility held its grand opening in October of 1994. The staff at Furey Funeral Home are committed to providing families in Frazee and the surrounding communities with compassionate funeral care.
