Our Aftercare
We know that the days and weeks following the loss of a loved one can be challenging, but you do not have to face the journey through grief alone. Mary Swenson is our compassionate, dedicated Aftercare Coordinator. We encourage you to seek out her valuable guidance along the way. Mary listens, suggests methods for coping, and provides helpful resources. In addition, she hosts several grief care gatherings and events throughout the year to offer those who are grieving a chance to talk about their journey, receive support, and feel less alone.
The Caring Cup
Everyone experiences losses in their life. You are not alone. We want to provide a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere for you to connect and share with others who are experiencing similar thoughts and feelings. Please join us once a month for coffee, treats and friendship as we face the challenges of life after loss together. Our goal is that this be a time of fellowship, support and encouragement.
Date: The 2nd Wednesday of each month (excluding national holidays)
Time: 10:30 a.m. ̶ 11:30 a.m.
Loss of a Spouse Seminar
This seminar will feature a video presentation from grief experts, counselors, and other widowed individuals, followed by group discussions and opportunities to connect with others who understand the unique pain of losing a spouse or significant other. This seminar has a participant guide which is helpful for weeks after the seminar. We typically offer this seminar in August.
Surviving The Holiday's Seminar
A "Surviving the Holidays" seminar is designed to help people cope with the emotional challenges of the holiday season after experiencing loss, divorce, or other significant life changes. This seminar offers a supportive environment, a video presentation with practical tips, group discussions for sharing experiences, and a take-home workbook called a Survival Guide. This seminar is offered in November or December each year.
GriefShare
GriefShare provides in-person support for those experiencing grief, particularly after the death of a loved on. GriefShare is a Christian themed program led by trained facilitators, utilizing a 13-week curriculum featuring video seminars, workbook exercises, and group discussions. It is held September-December.
Memorial Event
In the early summer we will provide an event for those who have lost a loved one to honor them and spend time healing and remembering together. Check the updates for where, when, and what the details look like for the next event.
Holiday Service of Remembrance
The holiday season can add to an already difficult time while grieving. For this reason, we host a special holiday service every year. A minister or grief specialist will share thoughts on being better equipped for the holidays, and there will be treats and beautiful music for you to enjoy. A personalized ornament will be presented in memory of your loved one.
